Starbucks is a widely known company that uses an ERP system called Oracle to allow them to automate administrative functions and everyday business processes such as supply chain, financial and project management.
Starbucks operates a chain-based business strategy, so
it is incredibly important that the supply chain for all locations is managed
successfully, and this is done through Oracle. Their business model is customer
orientated and adjusting their products and practices to benefit the customers
and their preferences. Oracle provides Starbucks with customer relationship
management (CRM), Enterprise resource planning (ERP) and supply chain
management (SCM) processes to allow them to achieve their business model and
strategy.
Netflix is another company that is massively involved
with enterprise applications to aid them in achieving their business strategy
and model. Netflix also uses the ERP system called Oracle specifically the
customer relationship management (CRM) aspect.
Their business strategy is to acquire content such as
licensing agreements but also creating original content alongside a
personalized user specific experience. Their business model is a subscription
based streaming service for media that is personalized based upon the users
wants. Oracle gathers customer information which allows Netflix to analyze
users’ needs and wants in terms of the media that is contained on Netflix but
also the change they want on the platform.
We can see with these 3 examples from extremely
popular companies, how Enterprise applications can be used successfully to help
companies achieve their business strategy while working it into their business
model.
