Introduction- Who am I?

Hey guys, today for my first post I will be giving you a quick introduction about me and about the information systems I had to use when studying abroad in Canada.

My name is Jake Power, I am 22 years old, and I am currently studying Business at SETU in Waterford. I am in my fourth year of studies and hoping to leave my final year specializing in accounting. As part of my third year of studies I studied abroad in London, Ontario, Canada at Fanshawe College and I had to adapt to the colleges information system, similar to Moodle but called 'FOL'.

FOL allowed us to have access to all our modules, assignments, and emails for the duration of the semester. We were required for all classes to have our laptops with us to use as an information system.

For accounting all assignments were done through an application called 'Lockdown Browser'. They used this App to put a timer on your exam but also to block any other tabs that were not allowed to be open. They could monitor any movement and your face was also recorded through a webcam.

It was difficult at first trying to familiarize myself with FOL because it was both very similar and very different to Moodle. Fanshawe College was very much reliant on technology to provide the lectures. As students all our accounting modules were required to be done through Excel. We were not permitted to use pen and paper like we can here at SETU.

Other than FOL and Lockdown browser, I wasn't faced with any other Information systems. I hope my first post gave you some insight into me and my studies over the last year, but also different information systems used in colleges in other parts of the world.

Thanks for reading,

Jake.
